LUCKNOW: The state electricity consumers’ body has accused the Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) of failing to act against VIPs and influential people using more load than sanctioned .

“The LESA is swift to increase the load in case of the common man but for VIPs, it awaits permission of higher authorities before increasing the load,” said Avadhesh Kumar Varma, chairman, Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad.

He added, “VIPs living in Gautampalli and on Kalidas Marg are enjoying more power supply than the sanctioned load while LESA officials are afraid of taking them on.”

It is pertinent to mention here that none other than energy minister Shrikant Sharma has directed the UPPCL officials to increase the load so that the corporation can get the real picture of demand in an area.

Executive engineer of Raj Bhavan substation Anil Varma said , “There are minister sand bureaucrats living in estate department bungalows which have sanctioned load of 2 KW but are using 23KW . But they have to pay surcharge

and penalty on excessive load every month with their bill.”

He said, “Soon the load of the residents of these bungalows

would be increased so that we can increase the load of transformers in the area for better power supply.”
