He sought cooperation from all the stake holders for the restoration of peace and tranquillity in the state, to enable speeding up of developmental activities,’’ said an official spokesman on the condition of anonymity.
The meeting marked the first time the governor met leaders of different parties after imposition of central rule in the state.
The spokesman said the governor urged the leaders to join hands in bringing the state out of the present morass and motivating youngsters to shun the path of violence and instead concentrate on their education and careers.
At the meeting, the People’s Democratic Party was represented by party general secretary Mohammad Dilawar Mir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by its former state president Sat Sharma and chief spokesman Sunil Sharma. The Congress delegation was represented by its state president Ghulam Ahmad Mir. Former J&K chief minister and National Conference vicepresident Omar Abdullah was also present at the meet along with the president of People’s Democratic Front, Hakim Yasin.
Abdullah had earlier met the governor on Wednesday soon after the state had come under the governor’s rule. He had demanded dissolution of the state assembly and holding of elections.
