NCB to organise 15-day awareness prog to prevent drug addiction
LUCKNOW: To observe the International Day against Drug Abuse which falls on June 26, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will organize workshops at different places here on Tuesday to spread awareness among the youths who easily fall prey to drug addiction.
“We have planned to do it on a larger scale as drug addiction is gradually spreading into all the age groups. This year, the plan is to organise a 15-day long awareness programme during which banners and posters would be put up at different schools, market places and offices,” said Birendra Kumar, zonal director, NCB, Lucknow.
He added, “Besides, mobile shows will be also prepared and circulated on social media to make its reach wider.”
Kumar said the awareness campaign was also a part of NCB’s strategy to make twoway damage to the drug peddlers.

He said the NCB had planned awareness campaign for the city schools for the same reason.
“We have decided to cover most of the reputed schools. There is a plan to launch the campaign in a very aggressive manner once the schools reopen after summer vacations and hit the target areas of the drug peddlers,” he said.
Kumar added, “Some schools have already been approached for this purpose and our officers are busy preparing the campaign programme.”
