Adulterated cement making unit busted, 1 held
LUCKNOW The Lucknow police unearthed an adulterated cement making factory at a village in Para police station area on Saturday and recovered a huge amount of packaged and non-packaged sub-standard cement.
The unit owner, Jamal, a resident of Unnao’s Hasanganj was arrested and a case under IPC section 420 for fraud and section 63 of copy right act registered against him, station house officer (SHO) of Para police station Akhilesh Chandra Pandey said.

City colony in Sadrauna village at around 2.30am and seized 1,500 sacks filled with sub-standard cement, 1000 sacks filled with expired cement and at least 2000 empty cement sacks and several other equipment used in manufacturing. Workers, however, managed to flee, he said. He said the manufacturing unit, located at a secluded place, was operational for the last two years.
Pandey said Jamal used to procure cements that got solidified inside sack and later crushed it and mix it with new cement and some other items for selling it in sacks of branded companies.
“Jamal had connections with some big contractors and construction material sellers in Lucknow and adjoining districts to whom he used to supply the sub standard stuff. The sellers used to lure purchasers by offering them discounts on premium brand cements,” Pandey said. He said Jamal also supplied adulterated cement to some government contractors after convincing them that the cement was branded.
The SHO said Jamal was being questioned about his other business partners and his purchasers. He said more people will be arrested in this connection and further investigation was on.
