LDA’s golf course to come up on Hardoi road
LUCKNOW: There’s good news for golf lovers. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has decided to come up with a golf course near the Gomti river bank on Hardoi road.
This facility will be a part of the LDA’s Vasant Kunj Yojana, a housing project. Proposed to come up on 65 acres, this golf course will be constructed on the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
“We are searching for a private company that will develop the golf course on the PPP model. It will be spread over 65 acres on Hardoi Road,” said PN Singh, LDA vice chairman.
The state capital already has two golf courses.
The older one, at Martinpurva near La Martiniere College, is spread over 70 acres and is managed by the Lucknow Golf Club. The more recent one, at Sushant Golf City, is spread over 180 acres. Both the golf courses have 18 holes.
The LDA’s golf course, also planned to have 18 holes, will be the first such facility in Lucknow to be constructed by a state government department.
The development authority will hand over the land to the private developer on a 90-year lease. The lease will be extended at intervals of every 30 years. Upon completion of the lease period, the golf course will be handed back to the development authority.
To make the project commercially viable and lucrative, the LDA has also decided to sell commercial plots near the proposed golf course. On these plots, shops and other commercial establishments including hotels will come up.
The Vasant Kunj housing scheme is also expected to benefit from the golf course project. The development authority officials said they were hopeful that residential properties near the proposed golf course would sell easily.
If the LDA rolls out this project successfully, then it will be able to shift some of the focus of its developmental works on Hardoi road. At present, all development activities of the LDA and other private developers are concentrated on Sultanpur road.
Another mega project of the LDA slated to come up on Hardoi road is its prestigious 764acre Mohan Road housing project. This Rs 2000 crore township will also be constructed on the PPP model.
