LMC working towards as tray animal free city
Dairies operating within city limits to be shut down
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to make Lucknow a stray animal-free city and this would be done in three phases.
In the first phase till July 15, LMC will catch stray bulls while stray cows would be caught in the next phase till August 15.
In the last phase till September 15, the dairies operating within the city would be shut down, said additional municipal commissioner Anil Kumar Mishra.
“Several lives are lost due to stray cattle menace in the state capital, so the LMC has taken a decision to catch stray animals and put them in Kanha Upvan. Dairy owners will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 per animal, if they care caught operating dairies within the city limits after August 15. The municipal corporation has already served notices to all the dairy owners,” he said.
He said ex-servicemen and PRD jawans have been roped in for the safety of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation squad.
With every squad, there would be four ex-servicemen, one JCO, 15 homeguards and PRD jawans.
A professional cameraman is hired by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation to record all the drives conducted by them. Two vehicles with hooters would also accompany the LMC squad.

Additional municipal commissioner Anil Kumar Mishra has also issued directives to the city environment engineer Pankaj Bhushan to make an action plan for enforcing the ban on polythene (under 50 microns).
For all these drives, letters have been written to SSP (city) for availability of force during the drives.
