LUCKNOW: Dr RML National Law University will seek help from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management ( I I Ms) to strengthen its placement cell and get better offers for its students.

“Wearer oping in experts from IITs and IIMs to strengthen our placement. Over the last few years, our placement graph has dipped sharply. It was getting reflected in the poor offers our law graduates have been getting,” said the newly appointed vice-chancellor, SK Bhatnagar, here on Wednesday.

“In no circumstances, top law schools will share their trade secrets -- how their students get better placement offers. So, we thought of roping in premier institutes to hold our hand and help us in getting better placement for our students,” he said.

The V-C made this announcement at a press conference here on Wednesday. He also said the university would start two elective papers from the new academic session .“These elective papers will be on medical laws and agricultural laws,” he said.

In addition to this, the university will bring in reforms in the examination system, holding mid-semester examinations from this year. “The mid-semester examination will be introduced to keep students focussed in their academics. Otherwise, they study only during the semester-end examinations ,” said the V-C.

The university will also apply for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rating, to be able to attract more funds from various sources.

B hat na gar said he would work to develop a feeling of brotherhood among all sections of society as well as strengthen respect for the rule of law. He also said he would focus on gender sensitisation among students and staff members.
