LUCKNOW : The murder of a 10-year-old balloon seller at the busy 1090 crossing has caused furore among the public as well as political parties.

Taking serious note of it, UP DGP OP Singh on Wednesday morning visited the deceased’s house to express condolences. During his 20- minute stay there, he interacted with the boy’s mother and other family members. He also issued stern directives to the Lucknow police to solve the case at the earliest.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders comprising RK Chowdhary and Man oj Pan dey too visited the victim’s family and gave financial assistance of ₹50,000 to the boy’s mother. While the DGP assured the victim’s family that the culprit would be nabbed soon, the SP delegation attacked the state government over “deteriorating law and order and spurt in crime graph.”

The SP delegation also demanded ₹50 lakh ex-gratia for the victim’s family.

Party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary said the minor boy’s murder at a busy crossing that has round-the-clock deployment of cops explains the deteriorating law and order of the state.

Chowdhary targeted the state government and police for some other incidents including the murder of a 17-year-old polytechnic student Sanskriti Rai, whose body was found near Ghaila bridge on IIM road on June 22. He said women and children were not feeling safe in the present scenario.

He also condemned the Lucknow University administration for denying admission to students who protested against chief minister Yogi Adityanath last year.

NIRMAL MEETS BOY’S KIN

Lalji Prasad Nirmal, chairman of UP Schedule Caste Financial and Development Corporation Ltd, also met the boy’s family and assured them of all possible help from the state government. He said he would convey the message to chief minister Yogi Adityanath and provide finan-

cial assistance to help the family start a small business. Nirmal also said that police authorities will be directed to take strict action and nab the culprits.
