AKTU’s 1st foundation day celebrated
LUCKNOW: The first foundation day of Centre for Advanced Studies of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University was celebrated on Saturday.
Firstly, the newly developed seminar hall was named as Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Hall, as a mark of respect to the great scientist Dr Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar . Chief guest Padma Shri Prof SG Dhande, former director, IIT Kanpur inaugurated it. Director, Centre of Advanced Studies Manish Gour outlined the future plans of this institute and expressed his gratitude to the vice chancellor, AKTU. He also spoke about the challenges ahead.
Prof HK Paliwal, director of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, explained the establishment of Centre for Advanced Studies and expressed confidence in the leadership of the institute’s director for achieving goals . V-C Prof Vinay Pathak congratulated the director of the Institute and urged him to go ahead by working hard to achieve the purpose for which the institution was created. He exhorted all those present to realise the sacrifice and hard work done by the founders of this institution.
In his speech, he also suggested introduction of 3 credit course on human values.
Prof SG Dhandhe thanked the state government for giving permission to open the institution . Later he remembered former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam for his contribution.
The former IIT Kanpur director highlighted the importance of quality research and threw light on the plight of research being conducted in the institutions of the country. He said the academic world urgently needed a critical discussion on 'good' research.
