LUCKNOW: The enforcement wing of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) sealed an under construction building at Kalyanpur on Saturday.

The building was being constructed without an approved map.

According to LDA officials, before starting construction work of any building, it is mandatory for the building owner to get its map approved from the development authority.

However, in this case (Kalyanpur), construction work was being carried out without getting the map approved from the development authority, said an LDA official.

The LDA has also identified a famous showroom of electrical appliances of multi brand goods near Odeon cinema theatre , which is now closed, under Kaiserbagh police station, for action.

The development authority

has served a notice to its owner for demolishing an extended portion of the building that was constructed recently.

It may be pointed out that the development authority has identified illegal buildings all over the city that have come up in gross violation of building norms.

In Gomti Nagar, illegal constructions can easily be spotted in Vishal Khand, Virat Khand, Vinay Khand, Nehru Enclave, Sanjay Gandhi Puram at Faizabad

Road, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar Extension (I), Viraj Khand, Vibhuti Khand and Gayatripuram, among other areas.

However, localities in the old city are also infamous for illegal constructions.

The development authority has also issued a warning to owners of these illegal structures to demolish the constructions within the specified time or else the development body would get them demolished and realise the demolition cost from the owners.

“But how will the LDA proceed against illegal commercial complexes?” said a senior LDA official.

The LDA is facing a piquant situation. Last year, several commercial complexes that were sealed by the development authority got reprieve from the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court.

The double bench court of justices Vikram Nath and Abdul Matin of the Lucknow bench had ordered opening of seals of Mega Shop and Citi Life- both commercial complexes sealed by the Lucknow Development Authority in May last year.

During proceedings of the court on a writ petition filed by owner of the Citi Life, the high court came to the conclusion that both the commercial complexes were sealed without following due procedure laid in the UP Urban Planning and Development Authority Act, 1973.
