LUCKNOW : SP chief Akhilesh Yadav in a scathing attack on the PM said, “These people have now made it a habit of inaugurating the inaugurated projects and laying foundation of already launched projects.”

LUCKNOW: Hours before the Prime Minister was scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the ‘Purvanchal Express’ in Azamgarh, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav in a scathing attack on Narendra Modi said, “These people have now made it a habit of inaugurating the inaugurated projects and laying foundation of already launched projects.”

Akhilesh, in the same breath, also attacked chief minister Yogi Adityanath for changing the name of the expressway from Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway to the Purvanchal Expressway. He alleged that the CM had been misleading the PM.

“Yogi ji has excluded Modi ji’s Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Ayodhya from the expressway route. Originally, these places were to be part of the new road. Secondly, they shrunk the project from its original ‘sixlane expandable to eight-lane’ to just six-lane. And not just this, they have even compromised with the quality--all this to show that they have reduced the cost of the project,” said Akhilesh.

Earlier too Akhilesh has criticised Modi for “unhesitatingly” launching SP government’s projects.

On Friday, the industrial development minister had announced that the state government has brought down the project cost by Rs 1,515 crore.

Showing one 2016’s photograph related to the Samsung facility event during his government, he said: “See the prime minister inaugurated the facility that was inaugurated by our Chaudharyji (the party’s state spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary) then.” Chaudhary was seen sitting with the Samsung officials.

Talking about the expressway, Akhilesh said that it was his government that had conceived and executed the AgraLucknow Expressway, the country’s biggest expressway in record 19 months and had then announced the Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway.

“Had it been my government, the project would have been completed by now. And they are at the foundation laying stage.

Both Modi and Yogi governments have nothing to show to the people as their works, so they are taking credit for our works.”

Akhilesh said: “I am extremely happy that the PM is re-laying the foundation stone for our project for they do not have anything of their own to showcase. If anyone has any doubt if it is our project or not, then they can file an RTI (right to information) to know the facts. Entire alignment of the Purvanchal Expressway was the one that chalked out by us. And 90 per cent of land for the

project was acquired by our government.” Replying to a question if Congress president Rahul Gandhi or BSP chief Mayawati will be the prime ministerial candidate of the joint opposition, Akhilesh said: “We want a new prime minister.”

‘NO LAW AND NO ORDER’

“There is no law and no order. The state never had such anarchy ever before; people never lived in such fear. The governor, I guess, knows that it is the government that facilitated the murder (of Munna Bajrangi) in jail,”he said.
