Three killed in separate road accidents

LUCKNOW : Three people, including a physically challenged man, were killed and several others got injured in three separate road accidents reported from different parts of the state capital here on Wednesday.

The first incident was reported over Kamta overbridge on Faizabad road when a roadways bus and a truck had head-on collision during wee hours on Wednesday.

In the incident, an Ambedkarna­gar resident Rohit Kumar Goswami, 40, who was travelling in the bus, was killed after suffering fatal injuries while the bus driver Shailesh and five other passengers including two minor girls were severely injured.

Among those injured were four members of a family including Abdul Sattar, 30, Saina, 25, and two minor sisters, Alina Mushtaq, 10, and Alia Mushtaq, 3, and one Nirmala, 40. Nearly 10 other bus passengers also sustained minor injuries and were discharged after providing first aid. In the same incident, the truck driver Meraj and his accomplice were also critically injured and admitted to the hospital.

Another incident was reported in Banthra area when a speeding truck crushed a 65-year-old man Shri Krishna. The victim who was physically­challenged, was moving on his wheelchair on the roadside when the truck crushed him. The incident took place near Dudaiyakhe­da village turn when the victim was going to a hospital for his treatment at around 9.30am.

In the third incident, a 35-year-old man Rakesh Kumar was killed after he was hit by a speeding pick-up four-wheeler near Madhvapur village of Malihabad on the city outskirts at around 7am.

District police spokesman Arun Kumar Singh said the police had registered complaints of causing death and injuries due to reckless driving in all three incidents and further probe is on.
