CLASS 7 GIRL BOOKED FOR ‘ADDING POISON’ IN MDM DAL

-

GORAKHPUR : Police have registered a case against the class seven girl student who allegedly added poison in mid-day meal before it was served to school children at Baulia village, under Bankati police station, in Deoria district on Tuesday.

The girl was booked under Sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offence punishable with life imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code, Bankati station house officer Devendra Pratap Singh said. She was being sent to a juvenile justice home, he added.

Police claimed the girl added a poisonous substance to the dal to be served in MDM to take revenge for the murder of her brother, a class 3 student of the same school, by a class 5 student in a fight. The murder accused had hit the boy with a stone on his head, leading to his death in April 2018, police said.

By mixing the poison in the dal, the girl wanted to take revenge on all, police said.

The girl has denied the charges, while her mother says that her daughter was being framed.

Although none of the students had tasted the food, they were examined by a team of doctors, who found all of them perfectly all right.

RP Pandey, district officer, food security and drug administration, said, “The report of the food sample sent to the lab is awaited. It will probably come in two or three days.”

Meanwhile, the school reopened and regular classes were held on Wednesday.
