UP to tap 4,000MW solar power from ‘green corridor’
LUCKNOW: The state government will set up a green corridor in the Bundelkhand region to transmit 4,000 MW solar power that is expected to be produced in the state in next couple of years.
Giving the information here on Wednesday, principal secretary, energy, Alok Kumar said the state government would spend over Rs 55,00 crore for the evacuation of the solar power through the proposed green corridor.
The Central Electrical Authority (CEA), he said, had recently given its approval to the proposal of creating the green corridor comprising more than two dozen transmission sub stations besides several connecting lines.
Kumar said the NEDA (Nonconventional energy development agency) had been entrusted with the responsibility of setting up solar plants with total capacity of 4000 MW by achieving the target

of adding 1000 MW solar power every year between 20202023.
The solar plants, he said, were proposed to be set up in the districts of Jalaun, Hamirpur, Lalitpur, Banda and Jhansi under the Bunderkhand region.
“Setting up of solar plants and the green corridor will not only help the state in being self-reliant in the field of electricity but also benefit the Bundelkhand economically,” he claimed.
