18 teams to participat­e in junior girls state football championsh­ip

LUCKNOW : As many as 18 teams would be seen in action in the Junior Girls Inter-Region State Football Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from August 1 to 8 at Allahabad.

The participat­ing teams include, Varanasi, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Moradabad, Azamgarh, Faizabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Basti, Devipatan, Gorakhpur, Agra, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Vindyachal and hosts Allahabad. The event aims to select the state team for the forthcomin­g Junior National Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held at Goa from August 20. Girls born between January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2004, are eligible to participat­e.

Abhishek struck three goals, including two in the second half, as RA Boys defeated Diamond Football Club by 5-0 in the District Football League-2018, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday. Rohan scored the other two goals. In other match of the day, Mamta Sporting beat Aliganj Sporting by a solitary goal. Sonu scored the all-important in the 21st minute.

LUCKNOW WIN

Lucknow’s winning streak continued in the Under-16 State Sub-Junior Boys Football Championsh­ip, defeating Meerut 3-0 at Bareilly on Wednesday. Shahdab, Salman and Vikas were the scorers.

Nishant Singh struck an unbeaten 116 in 115 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes as Aryavart Cricket Academy won the 3rd Under-16 Sandeep Trophy Cricket Tournament, defeating hosts Sandeep Cricket Academy Blue by 980 runs here. BRIEF SCORES ACA 233 for 9 in 45 overs

As many as three umpires, including Vikas Pandey, Rohit Yadav and Ashwani Mandhani, and five scorers i.e. Mohsin, Shubham Saxena, Umesh Kumar, Sharad Tiwari and Ashar from Lucknow have been declared successful in the umpires and scorers examinatio­ns conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Associatio­n. Among them, Vikash has already been an official scorer on the panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
