DUMPER ‘AVOIDING COPS’ CRUSHES 3 SIBLINGS TO DEATH

LUCKNOW: Three siblings, aged between 3 and 10 years, were crushed to death when a dumper entered their hut while passing through a narrow passage, alongside a brick kiln, in Gudamba area here in the wee hours of Thursday. The siblings’ mother and their two other siblings were severely injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at the trauma centre of King George Medical University. Locals alleged that the dumper was being used for illegal land mining in adjoining Sarsaundi village of Barabanki district and used to pass through this passage to avoid police checking.

LUCKNOW: Three siblings, aged between 3 and 10 years, were crushed to death when a dumper entered their hut while passing through a narrow passage, alongside a brick kiln, in Gudamba area here in the wee hours of Thursday.

The siblings’ mother and their two other siblings were severely injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at the trauma centre of King George Medical University.

Locals alleged that the dumper was being used for illegal land mining in adjoining Sarsaundi village of Barabanki district and used to pass through this passage to avoid police checking.

Senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani visited the injured persons in the trauma centre and assured all possible help to them from the district administra­tion.

He said the dumper owner has also been taken into custody to probe the illegal land mining allegation, adding that a report will be sent to the district authoritie­s of Barabanki if the allegation is found true.

Police have seized the dumper and arrested its driver Raj Kishore after registerin­g an FIR of causing death and injuries due to negligent driving.

District police spokesman Arun Kumar Singh said the incident happened when the dumper was passing through the brick kiln area in Rajauri village when the three siblings and their other family members were sleeping in their hut at around 2.30 am.

He said the dumper entered the hut of kiln labourer Santram while reversing and crushed his three children, including two daughters Rani (10) and Gauri (5) and son Deepak (3). He said Santram’s wife Nirmala, 50, and two other daughters Ashna, 12 and Santoshi, 6 were severely injured.

“Santram belongs to Barabanki. Since he and his wife worked at the brick kiln, they stayed in a hut on the kiln premises,” Singh said.

He added that the SSP has asked additional SP of transGomti Harendra Kumar to visit the spot and inquire the matter.
