GORAKHPUR: A day after the activists of ABVP barged into the office of Saint Andrew’s College and allegedly assaulted the staff and teachers, the college staff has decided to go on an indefinite strike as the police have not lodged an FIR even 24 hours after the incident.
A member of teachers’ association Sushil Tiwari said the academic as well as office work would remain suspended during the strike.
The college administration has already written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, governor Ram Naik and vice-chancellor DDU Gorakhpur University demanding action against the culprits.
The college administration also alleged that the police were not acting against the activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
“No academic work will take place and the ongoing admission process will remain suspended till action is not taken against the accused,” said Tiwari.
Meanwhile, station house officer, Cantonment, Chandrabhan Singh refuted the college staff’s claims and said the matter was being investigated.
