LUCKNOW:A 25-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances after being injured outside an ATM in Chinhat on Thursday night, police said.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.

The deceased has been identified as one Pavan Gautam of Vimalnagar of Kamta area.

Enraged over the death, Pavan’s family members and relatives protested against the police on Friday.

They kept his body on road and alleged that police failed to prevent the incident and arrest the accused.

The family members have accused three people known to Pavan for his death.

The family has claimed that Pavan was thrashed by the accused which resulted in his death.

However, police have denied any foul play in preliminary investigation.

“We have reviewed the CCTV footage of cameras located outside the ATM. Pavan can be seen coming out of the ATM and collapsing after taking a few steps,” said station house officer(SHO) of Chinhat police station Raj Kumar.

“After reviewing the video, prima facie it appears that there was no involvement of another person in the incident,” the officer added.

Reportedly no security guard was present at the ATM at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, police have recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

A police team is also reviewing the police complaint filed by the family members to lodge a formal complaint.

After reviewing the video (CCTV footage), prima facie, it appears that there was no involvement of another person in the incident.
