LUCKNOW: A four and a half hour outage on Friday forced employees of the secretariat building in Janpath to come out of office. The outage started at 10 am and continued till 2.30 pm. The employees had no option but to exit in view of the hot and humid condition inside the office.

GM, LESA (cis-Gomti) Madhukar Varma said, “I have called for a report on the prolonged power cut in the area and directed the engineers to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the secretariat.”

Meanwhile, advocates of the family court h said they had complained to LESA authorities after the connections to their chambers were snapped on June 30 but nothing had been done despite several requests to restore the connections.

On June 30, LESA squad visited the family court where it found that most of the chambers of lawyers were drawing power without any meter. The LESA squad snapped such power connections .

Former president of family court bar association Padm Kirti said, “The LESA action has forced the lawyers to work without power on the court premises. They are not giving the connections, forcing the lawyers to work without electricity in the sweltering heat. We have met LESA officials for metered power supply but they have not paid any attention to our problems. We have also met the district magistrate. If the connections are not released, we will be forced to go on strike.”

Padm Kirti said, “LESA does not have meters so it is not giving us connections. Why should lawyers suffer because of LESA’s inefficiency ? LESA authorities should address our problem or we will go on strike.”
