IGP assures security to four-year-old rape victim’s family
LUCKNOW: Moradabad police have deployed security for the family of the four-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old youth last Saturday.
The step was taken following the visit of inspector general (IG) of police Binod Kumar to the house of the girl on Thursday morning.
“The family members complained to me that they are being threatened for registering a complaint in the matter.
So, I have ordered security for the family. Local police has also been directed to registered a case against those who threatened the family,” the officer added.
The family has been reportedly under pressure since the rape incident.
As per the police complaint submitted by the family, their daughter was lured by teenager, who raped her in the basement of his house. The accused, who is son of local politician, fled after the incident. The girl was recovered by her mother. “The girl was crying in pain so we took her to a hospital where the doctors confirmed rape,” said a close relative of the girl.
The complaint was lodged two days after the incident, allegedly because the family was pressurised to not lodge any complaint.
However, police displayed swiftness in investigation.
“An FIR under POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) was registered against the accused and he was arrested the very next day,” the IG said.
The accused has been sent to juvenile home after being presented in court.
The girl is recovering and has been discharged from the hospital.
“The girl is recovering well. I have assured the family of every possible help in the matter,” said the officer.
THE GIRL, A STUDENT OF CLASS 8, HAD DISAPPEARED MYSTERIOUSLY FROM HER HOUSE AND COULD NOT BE TRACED DESPITE HECTIC SEARCH.
