SHAHJAHANPUR : CM Yogi Adityanath said the BJP’s massive win in the Friday’s no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha was a sign of things to come in the 2019 parliamentary polls. “We saw how PM answered their (Opposition) every question and dismissed their allegations. The no-trust motion was defeated with an absolute majority. This was an indication of 2019. The BJP will form a government with an absolute majority,” he said.

SHAHJAHANPUR: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said the BJP’s massive win in the Friday’s no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha was a sign of things to come in the 2019 parliamentary polls.

Addressing a kisan (farmers’) rally in Shahjahanpur, Adityanath said, “We saw how prime minister answered their (Opposition) every question and dismissed their allegations. The no confidence motion was defeated with an absolute majority. This was an indication of 2019. The BJP, led by PM Modi, will form a government with an absolute majority and establish India as a superpower before the world.”

Yogi also took a dig at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, saying Friday’s development proved that ‘Pappu will always remain a Pappu.’ During his speech in the Lok Sabha, the Congress chief had said while the BJP often ran him down as ‘Pappu’, he did not harbour any ill will towards the BJP and the RSS. Gandhi had then gone on to hug Modi.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Adityanath, had later described it as a childish act. At the rally, Adityanath went on to describe Gandhi as a Pappu again. He also spoke of the various farm friendly measures his government had taken.

“From making record purchases of potato and paddy to providing various incentives for the farmers, our government is doing everything for the benefit of farmers. Under Modiji, the Centre and the state are jointly working to benefit the poor,” he said.

Adityanath also spoke of how UP had taken the lead in constructing houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Uttar Pradesh urban development minister Suresh Khanna, who hails from Shahjahanpur, described Modi as a world leader who was being feted even in Muslim countries. “Saudi Arabia, Palestine have honoured Modi with the highest award in their nations,” he said.

The success of the rally was largely attributed to UP BJP general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal and Khanna, a seven-term lawmaker from Shahjahanpur city. Khanna also conducted the programme.
