LUCKNOW: Registering complaints or taking up legal issues with government departments would no longer be a hassle for the Non Resident Indians (NRI) belonging to Uttar Pradesh as the NRI department here has launched a new website which will exclusively handle such issues.

“All the concerned departments have been directed to keep track of all inbound complaints on the website-www.upnrigrs.in and redress them at the earliest,” said Kaushal Raj Sharma, district magistrate, Lucknow.

Sharma chaired the meeting on Saturday.

“The website will provide one stop solution to all issues. The applicants can approach the government or the district administration to report the issue. Our departments will depute an official who will sort out issues round the clock,” said Sharma while claiming that there was no proper platform to take up issues related to NRIs.

The website has three different interfaces. One is meant to file complaint, while the other two is meant for department login and tracking the complaint status.

“Officials on duty would update the status of the complaint on the website helping the complainants to know the status,” he added.

Issues related with encroachment

of ancestral properties, physical and mental harassment of parents, apathetic attitude of police and administration officials, forged litigations, human trafficking and even marital disputes can be reported.

“The grievance redressal portal will ensure timely disposal of all grievances of NRIs and migrants belonging to Uttar Pradesh. It will provide an online platform for submitting grievances and the monitoring mechanism will provide real time status of the grievance filed,” said the district magistrate.

“As of now five complaints have been registered on the portal. Of these, two complaints were related to Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and three to the police department. We are on the job and the status will be updated at the earliest,” he said.
