IIA to help govt in implementing ODOP scheme in 45 dists

LUCKNOW: The Indian Industries Association (IIA) will help the Yogi Adityanath government in implementing the one district one product (ODOP) scheme in 45 districts where the industry lobby group has a direct presence. The IIA will implement the project in association with the zila udyog kendra, a state government body.

“We have a direct presence in 45 districts in the state. In these districts, we will implement the one district one product scheme in coordination with the state government,” said Sunil Vaish, national president, IIA.

“For the remaining districts, we are trying to come up with a module where help will be sourced from districts where the IIA has presence. The IIA has a presence in Agra but not in Mathura. So, for Mathura, we will mobilise resources from Agra,” Vaish added.

The IIA is a prominent industry lobby group that represents micro small and medium enterprises. The ODOP is a flagship scheme of the Yogi government. Under ODOP, the Yogi government has identified 75 products in as many districts that are indigenous. These products have made the respective districts famous.

From providing financial support to those actively engaged in making these products, to technical upgradation and marketing support, the state government will extend all possible help to promote these products.

The famous carpets of Bhadohi, brassware of Moradabad, locks of Aligarh, black pottery of Mirzapur, crockery of Khurja, leather of Agra and Kanpur are on the list of 75 products under the scheme. The scheme is part of the MSME ministry of UP government.With this scheme, the government intends to generate employment at local level.
