LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Raj Babbar on Saturday said the Friday debate on no-confidence motion in Parliament has not just initiated a discussion on many burning issues but also brought to light the false promises made to the people by the Narendra Modi government.

Babbar said the people were fed up with Modi government at the Centre and Yogi Adityanath government in the state for their failure in addressing public issues.

Babbar was leading the ‘dharna’ organised by the party at GPO Park in Lucknow.

The protests against deteriorating law and order situation in the state were held across the state.

“The law and order situation in the state is so bad that murders are now taking place even inside jails,” said Babbar while insisting that crime against women, including rapes, were also on the rise.

“The police was, however, using force on those fighting for their rights,” he said.

Babbar said small traders were upset with the imposition of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and media was also being tar geted.

“This was not good for democ racy,” he said while criticizing the Yogi government for failing to provide relief to farmers in the drought-hit areas of East UP and Bundelkhand.

In a press statement, Babba targeted Modi for making more ‘jumla’ announcements a Kisan Rally in Shahjahanpu on Saturday. Babbar said the PM’s announcement for 50 per cent more MSP for farmers wa part of ‘jumla’ announcements

“The farmers are not getting even 50 percent of the cost o their produce,” alleged UPCC chief.
