Now, mobile app to ensure hassle-free Kanwar Yatra

MEERUT:Kanwar Yatra would be more hi-tech this year and there would be wider use of social media to ensure hassle-free Yatra this year. A new app is being developed for monitoring the Yatra throughout its route in different districts of the region.

The ‘Kanwar Yatra’ app is the brainchild of divisional commission­er Anita Meshram which would help officials and their staff monitor the Yatra.

The app would be based on Jio mapping through Google map which would have locations and detail of hospitals, shops, yatra camps, road side dhabas, medical stores, police assistance, police stations etc. It will also have telephone numbers of subdivisio­nal magistrate­s, station house officers, camp organisers, private and government hospi-

Divisional commission­er said that it would help in effective monitoring of the Yatra and providing immediate assistance to devotees in crisis. She said that the app would be provided to all officials and staff inducted in duty of Kanwar Yatra so that phones.

Meanwhile, principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar and DGP OP Singh reviewed preparatio­ns of Kanwar Yatra on Friday and the officials claimed that cyber experts would keep a close watch on social media against spreading any objectiona­ble messages. Singh said that officials have been directed to initiate stern action against those found involved in vitiating atmosphere through social media.

The top officials also directed district authoritie­s to activate kanwar samitis in their respective districts in order to brief them about the dos and don’ts during Yatra. SSP of Meerut Rajesh Kumar Pandey has asked SHOs of the district to invite influentia­l people of respective areas in the meeting and to form a WhatsApp group so that they could remain in direct contact with the police
