‘Law, order situation needs improvement’
LUCKNOW: Governor Ram Naik on Sunday said there was a need for improvement in the law and order situation in the state though Yogi Adityanath government had been making efforts to bring about an improvement in the situation.
“Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is making sincere efforts to bring about an improvement in the law and order situation. There is an improvement in the situation though it can be improved further. There was a need for improvement in the law and order situation during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav government too,” said Naik while replying to a question on law and order situation during the tenure of the two governments.
Naik was speaking to media persons on completion of four years in Raj Bhawan. Naik released 138-page report card titled “Raj Bhawan main Ram Naik” (Ram Naik in Raj Bhawan) focusing on his initiatives as governor of Uttar Pradesh.
Asked whether he was keeping a watch on the law and order situation now as he did during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav government, Naik said he had given a report card of his activities, including his meetings with the chief minister in Raj Bhawan. Naik said he discussed the law and order issue too with the chief minister.
He said he enquired about the killing inside jail recently and had been doing so consistently.
Listing his initiatives, Naik said the length of governor’s address was brought down to 38 pages at his behest and he read his complete address at the joint sitting of two houses of state legislature this year.
This was after 2007 that any governor was able to read out his complete address, said Naik.

Later, chief minister Adityanath met Naik and congratulated him for his four year tenure.
