VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Omprakash Rajbhar on Wednesday said he would put pressure on the state government and force it to ban liquor across the state.

“I want to tell the state government to ban liquor in the state as soon as it is possible and provide employment to the jobless youths. If you can’t provide permanent jobs, provide them jobs on contractual basis,” said Rajbhar, who is known for his hard-hitting comments against his own government.

He was addressing his party workers in Ranipur town of Mau district.

He appealed to his party workers to focus on educating their children so that they can get government jobs.

“Struggle to make your son constable or sub inspector,” said Rajbhar who is the minister for backward class welfare and divyangjan empowerment.

Commenting on the political situation in UP ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, he said, “The BJP thinks Omprakash Rajbhar may run away (snap ties), SP chief Akhilesh Yadav wishes Omprakash Rajbhar joins hand with him,” he said.

The SBSP is an ally of the ruling BJP in UP.

He claimed he was working for the poor, backwards, dalits, daily wagers and will continue fighting for their rights till his last breath.

He blamed politicians for lack of jobs for youths of the Bind, Pal, Prajapati, Kumhar, Nai, Mushar and Pasi communities.

“Tell me, has the son of any Pal, Prajapati, Kumhar (Potter), Naai, Musahar or Pasi become constable or sub-inspector? If not, politicians of the country are responsible for it,” he said.

“We want a classification in the 27% reservation (for OBCs) in order that the backwards, most backwards and extreme backward get government jobs,” he said.
