Nida wants cleric to be booked for fatwa against her

-

LUCKNOW: Bareilly police is set to lodge an FIR against the cleric who had issued fatwa ousting anti-triple talaq crusader Nida Khan from Islam.

Cleric had issued fatwa against Nida for questioning practices like fatwa and Halala last week.

The FIR will be registered on the basis of police complaint submitted by Nida at the office of SSP Bareilly on Wednesday.

According to her complaint, the said fatwa was issued on the behest of her estranged husband Sheeran Raza Khan. “Sheeran Raza had got the fatwa issued against me through one of his disciples Khurshid Alam Razvi. The fatwa also asks people of Muslim community to boycott me socially,” alleges Nida.

SSP of Bareilly Muniraj has taken cognisance of the complaint and directed police station concerned to register an FIR in the matter.

The fatwa, Nida claimed, has worked to incite community members against her. “It is an attempt to malign my character and spread hate against me and my family. I fear for the security of my family after the fatwa,” Nida said. The office of SSP Bareilly has accepted her complaint for action. “The complaint has been forwarded to the concerned police station with directions to lodge FIR and initiate investigation,” said SSP Muniraj. Sheeran Raza and the cleric could not be reached for a comment. However, Anjum Raza, father of Sheeran, refuted the claims of the complaint. “No one from my family has directed anyone to issue fatwa against Nida,” he said.
