UP RECOMMENDS CBI PROBE INTO ₹126CR YEIDA LAND SCAM
LUCKNOW : The state government on Thursday recommended a CBI probe into Rs 126 crore Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) land scam. Secretary (home) Bhagwan Swarup said the state government has sent the reference to ministry of personnel, pension and public grievance, recommending CBI investigation in FIR registered in Yamuna expressway land scam case. On June 3, YEIDA submitted a complaint with police for registration of an FIR against 21 people, including an IAS officer who was a former CEO with YEIDA, at Kasna police station in Greater Noida for their alleged involvement in the land scam.

On June 3, YEIDA submitted a complaint with police for registration of an FIR against 21 people, including an IAS officer who was a former CEO with YEIDA, at Kasna police station in Greater Noida for their alleged involvement in the land scam.
The NOIDA police had lodged FIR against the ex-CEO of
YEIDA PC Gupta, tehsildar Suresh Chandra Verma and others for fraud and cheating.
The case came to light when YEIDA conducted an internal inquiry into the suspected cases of land acquisition.
The then chairman of YEIDA Prabhat Kumar ordered the inquiry into the land scam.
Later, FIR was filed against the officers over their involvement in the scam.
A senior state government officer said the then CEO PC Gupta along with his family members and relatives had allegedly purchased the land from farmers at lower rates and sold it to YEIDA in around double rates.
The police said the land worth Rs 126 crore was purchased in Bajna area of Mathura.
On June 22, the police arrested PC Gupta from outside a temple from Datia in Madhya Pradesh.
Gupta and others officers of YEIDA were charged with causing a loss of Rs 126 crore to YEIDA by purchasing unnecessary 57 acres of farm land through several shell companies whose boards had his relatives as members, a state government officer said.
