Three arrested for firing on constable

LUCKNOW : Police arrested three persons, who had opened fire on a constable seriously injuring him in Bhola Kheda under Bazar Khala police station on July 25, from Kanpur road on Thursday.

Cops also recovered the firearm used in the crime, two live bullets and one empty shell. Those arrested are Vijay Singh, who is from Bihar besides Vijay Bhurji of Krishna Nagar and Sandeep Singh of Sarojini Nagar. In Lucknow, Vijay Singh was residing in New Sindhu Nagar.

All the three accused and the injured constable Ashish Singh are friends. Ashish is under suspension and his last posting was in Unnao district.

As of now, he is undergoing treatment at trauma centre. Following the incident, SSP Kalanidhi Naithani had constitute­d three teams to arrest miscreants.

ago a video had gone viral in which Ashish Singh was reacting ruckus in Bazar Khala area in an inebriated state. The three miscreants used to make fun of Ashish while making reference to this video.

“All the three accused and Ashish Singh were consuming liquor on July 25 in Krishna Nagar area. They started taunting Ashish regarding the video. This resulted in a verbal dual between them,” said Yashkant Singh, station officer, Krishna Nagar.

“As the verbal dual turned ugly, one of the miscreants opened fire on Ashish. After the incident, all three fled,” he added.
