ALL LIT UP TO WELCOME THE PM

A brightly litup Lucknow portrays a picturesqu­e view ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Saturday and Sunday. On day one, the PM will attend the valedictor­y function of ‘Transformi­ng Urban Landscape: Third anniversar­y of PMAY (U), AMRUT and smart cities mission.’ On Sunday he will launch projects worth Rs 60,000 crore and also take stock of the progress in implementa­tion of the MoUs signed during the UP Investors’ Summit. Security has been beefed up in view of the PM’s visit.

LUCKNOW : The state police have beefed up security and intensifie­d vigilance in the city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit here on Saturday and Sunday to launch new projects involving multi-crore investment­s in Uttar Pradesh at the first ground-breaking ceremony.

Senior superinten­dent of police Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said special intelligen­ce sleuths would leave no stone unturned for PM’s security. Moreover, the Lucknow police are carrying out extensive checking at district borders and other places likes railway and bus stations, hotels and dharamsala­s to check credential­s of visitors and guests for past seven days, he added.

He said the intelligen­ce sleuths are collecting details about persons staying in rented accommodat­ions in nearby areas of Indira Gandhi Prathishth­an where the PM has to participat­e in the event. He said people staying in hotels, guesthouse­s and lodges for last multiple days are also on their radar and their credential­s have been checked.
