BJP chief prays for a ‘divya’, ‘bhavya’ Kumbh

ALLAHABAD : BJP chief Amit Shah during his daylong visit to Sangam city on Monday prayed for smooth and safe conduct of 2019 Kumbh and promised to make the 50-day mega religious event ‘divya’ and ‘bhavya’. He also sought the blessings of saints for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

ALLAHABAD : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah during his daylong visit to Sangam city on Monday prayed for smooth and safe conduct of 2019 Kumbh and promised to make the 50-day mega religious event ‘divya’ and ‘bhavya’ (divine and grand).

Shah arrived at Bamrauli airport over two hours behind schedule and was greeted by deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya besides Cabinet ministers Sidharth Nath Singh, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Nand Gopal Gupta, BJP’s state president Mahendra Nath Pandey and mayor Abhilasha Gupta among others.

During his stay, Shah first inaugurate­d the newly constructe­d Siddh Baba Maujgiri ghat. He was welcomed by president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad Swami Narendra Giri.

He performed ‘arti’ of Yamuna and also laid the foundation stone of a meditation center at Maujgiri temple of Juna Akhara. The BJP chief also performed puja of Lord Shiva in Maujgiri Ashram where he was joined by his 108-year-old guru, Mahamandal­eshwar Swami Vishambhar Das who flew in from Ahmedabad.

Shah also met saints and select party workers there for a brief period. Later Shah performed puja at the famous Bade Hanuman temple on the banks of Sangam after which he proceeded for Baghambari mutt in Allahpur locality where he had lunch with saints. There he held discussion­s with saints about Kumbh preparatio­ns and also sought their blessings for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

SP ACTIVISTS HELD

Police arrested four activists of Samajwadi Party near the Indian Press crossing for showing black flags to the BJP chief. The activists, including two women, suddenly jumped before the Shah’s cavalcade in Dhoomangan­j area showing black flags, SP (city) Brajesh Kumar Srivastava said adding that all the activists were challaned under section 151 of IPC and later released on bond.

SIDDH BABA MAUJGIRI GHAT

The foundation of Siddh Baba Maujgiri ghat was laid over five years back on January 19, 2013 during Kumbh by the then governor of Uttarakhan­d Aziz Qureshi.

HARRIED TIMES FOR COMMUTERS

Commuters faced immense inconvenie­nce on busy Kanpur road besides on other places due to the BJP chief Amit Shah’s visit. Some schoolchil­dren were also spotted stuck up on busy Kanpur road after police stopped movement at around 11am near Tarapore Dwar. Eight schools present on the VVIP route shortened their working hours in accordance to orders of district magistrate for avoiding traffic jam and inconvenie­nce.

The entire programme of Amit Shah was streamed live on facebook by BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit.

The streaming was watched live by 66,000 persons while 2,000 commented on it 925 shared the same.
