Abhinav’s brace helps Police Boys score win
LUCKNOW:Two goals by Abhinav helped Police Boys Black beat Union Football Club by 2-0 in the District Football League-2018, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday. Abhinav scored in the 28th and 45th minute.
The other match of the day between LDA Football Club and Army Boys Football Club ended in 1-1 draw. Saurabh netted for LDA in the 45th minute, whereas Rohan restored parity for Army Boys in the 52nd minute.

Lucknow region on Friday named its 16-member team for the Under-19 Girls State Football Championship, starting August 1 in Allahabad. It included, Sapna Singh, Pallavi Kashyap, Anshu, Neha Rawat, Samreen Ansari, Pragati Gupta, Priya, Maneesha Tripathi, Soniya, Neha Sonkar, Dipty Maurya, Shilpi Singh, Khushi Gurung, Pinki Kumari, Anjali Yadav and Dudha Goswami. Taekwondo exponents from Uttar Pradesh staged a fine show at the Chosun University Presidential Poomase Taekwondo Championship in South Africa early this week, winning three bronze medals. They included Lucknow’s Javed Khan, Hina Habib and Noida’s Mahi Singh. Over 2500 taekwondo exponents from 20 countries took part in the event.

Karminder Singh outplayed Rohit Gangwar and made it to the snooker semi-finals of the Nawab Emaduddin Ashraf Memorial Tournament here on Friday.
Karminder won the fourframe battle by 82-50, 70-72, 81-33 and 92-29. India number 2 Malkeet Singh, defeated Ayush 76-61, 42-51, 36-89, 58-42, 64-19, before Akshay Kumar outplaying Shobit Chandra 86-8, 75-64, 66-46. And in the last quarterfinal of the day, Rahul Singh surprised defebding champion Vinayak Agarwal 79-18, 46-96, 57-42, 9-50 and 61-36 in five frames.
