‘Centre ready to provide more security to investors’
LUCKNOW: Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday appealed to the investors to make maximum investments in Uttar Pradesh and said the central government would provide additional security to them, if required.
“Though law and order is a state subject, we are ready to provide additional security to you if such a need arises,” he said, addressing investors on the occasion of ground-breaking ceremony of 81 projects here.
Singh said UP had unlimited potential but there was a need to tap it and create the right environment for investment.
He lauded the Yogi Adityanath government and his team for being able to convert mere intents into actual investments worth over Rs 60,000 crore within five months. “One can say the expressway of development not only passes through Mumbai and Delhi but UP too. that such development could take place in a short duration,” he said and hoped that at least 90 per cent of the remaining MoUs signed during the Investors’ Summit in February would get converted into investments.
“It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, during his tenure as chief minister of Gujarat, began the practice of organising investors’ summits. Since then, the practice has been adopted by many states,” Singh said.
