ALLAHABAD: With an aim to empower students with employable skills when they complete their secondary education, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (UPMSA) is all set to introduce vocational education scheme in select 200 government secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh.

The four trades, which would be taught in these schools, include automobiles, information and technology, retail and security.

The UPMSA has invited expression of interest (EOI) from qualified entities in the field of vocational education for carrying out vocational education in said four trades in 2018-19 session.

As per the EOI floated under the revised centrally sponsored vocational education scheme, each of the 200 schools will offer two out of the four trades/sectors selected under the scheme.

Of the total 200 schools, 135 will provide education in retail trade, 117 in information and technology, 84 schools in security besides 64 schools would impart teaching in automobiles sector.

The project will be jointly funded by the central and state governments. The vocational training provider (VTP) would provide resource persons including vocational trainer, vocational coordinators and guest faculty as per the requirement.

VTP will also ensure integration of the courses with the scheme of examination of UP Board.

As per UP Board officials preferring anonymity, the scheme would be introduced in other secondary schools of the state provided it gets a positive response in the first phase. As per reports, the last date for online submission of EOI is August 16.
