LUCKNOW: After the groundbreaking ceremony organised to launch projects worth Rs 60,000 crore last month, the state government is holding yet another event, One District One Product (ODOP) Summit, on August 10.

The event is being considered to be another attempt by chief minister Yogi Adityanath to give the message of attracting investments and creation of more jobs ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The CM reviewed the preparations for the summit at a high level meeting here on Wednesday.

Secretary, MSME and export promotion, Bhuvnesh Kumar said: “A number of programmes will be worked out in coming months to boost the products identified with different districts.” “Four sessions focusing on agro and food processing, craft and tourism, handloom and textiles and credit and finance will be organised. A three-day exhibition to display products is also being put up on the occasion,” he added.

President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the summit which will also be attended by governor Ram Naik and chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

About 4,000 delegates, mainly from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) besides ministers and senior government officers are expected to attend the event.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had launched the ODOP programme on January 24 this year to brand and boost products in different districts.

Yogi has already asked the officers to ensure that best facilities are provided to artisans and craftsmen working in brassware industry in Moradabad, perfume industry in Kannauj, glass industry in Firozabad and flute industry in Pilibhit.

The state government had recently signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to educate the MSMEs about listings at the two stock exchanges.

The state government officials and the NSE and BSE representatives will also exchange the MoUs on the occasion.

The projects launched during the ground-breaking ceremony held on July 28-29 are expected to create 2.1 lakh jobs.

The state government proposes to hold yet another groundbreaking ceremony in coming months to implement more MoUs that were signed ahead of Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit organised here on February 21-22 this year.

It has also been decided that the UP NRI Day will be celebrated during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas programmes to be organised in Varanasi in January next year.
