LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government is getting ready with memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to be exchanged at the first One District One Product (ODOP) Summit-2018 being organised here on August 10.

President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate summit, being considered yet another attempt of the Yogi Adityanath government to boost small industry by branding products and creating more jobs for the youth.

The MoUs being signed ahead of the summit provide for skill development and educating the state’s small industry about getting funds from stock markets.

Under the provisions of the MoU being signed with the Wipro-GE Healthcare, a training centre will be set up to impart training to nearly 450 personnel in the state. “The Wipro-GE Electricals will provide training to 450 persons. It is yet to decide a place to set up the training centre,” said secretary skill development Bhuvnesh Kumar.

The state government is also signing MoUs with BSE and NSE that will launch education programmes to make the micro, small and medium industries (MSMEs) aware about the procedure for listing on the stock exchanges. The MSMEs had raised the demand for training about rules and procedures for listing on stock markets at the Investors’ Summit organised here on February 21 and 22.

Online retailer Amazon also proposes to set up a microsite titled ODOP on its website. It will put up products of 300 artisans free of cost on its website. Nine districts from where artisans will be selected include Agra, Moradabad, Aligarh, Firozabad, Varanasi, Lucknow, Allahabad and Gorakhpur.

Another MoU to be exchanged at the ODOP summit includes the one with Quality Council of India (QCI). Under the provisions of the MoU, the QCI will help the industry to bring about an improvement in quality and check pollution through ZED -zero effect, zero defect.

The QCI will collaborate with the industry to improve quality and bring down pollution by providing technology in three years. After three years, the benefits of state government’s schemes will be given only to the industrial units that get QCI certification.

“This does not involve any funding from the state government. The QCI will help the industry with funds and technology,” said Kumar.
