AMC in district football league semis

LUCKNOW:Favourites Army Medical Corps continued their winning streak in the District Football League-2018, blanking out Sports College by 3-0 to make it to the semi-finals, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

Against a well-organised AMC forwards, the Sports College boys never looked in contention and were almost begging for the ball in the 60-minute duel. Koshal drew the first blood in the 15th minute to take up the score to 1-0 at the break.

Things didn’t change even after a change in the ends as AMC kept enjoying dominance. Varte struck the second goal in the 48th minute, whereas Abhijit completing the formality, striking the third goal in the last minute.

SCHOOL SOCCER

Jeevan Dhara School split points in the Maharishi Vidya Mandir College while playing a 1-1 draw in their match in the InterSchoo­l Football Tournament here on Wednesday. Alok Yadav scored for Jeevan Dhara, whereas Vedant Dixit restored parity for MVMC. In other match of the day, Dabble College beat DPS Shaheed Path 3-0. Anas, Kaushal and Shubham shared three goals between them. Jagran Public School too notch up a 3-0 win against Ramadheen Singh Inter College in the last match of the day. Amulya, Aditya and Devangshu scored.

UPAA’S WARNING

The UP Athletics Associatio­n on Wednesday warned its athletes for strict action, if they participat­ed in the Poorvancha­l Marathon 2018, supposed to be held in Gorakhpur on Wednesday as the event is not recognized.

SAURABH WINS

Saurabh Agarwal defeated Surya Dev 200-145 to win the billiards title at the Pool Palace Billiards and Snooker Tournament here on Wednesday.

The final saw both players under pressure of the situation as none went to construct a meaningful break and outplay the opponent, instead both just kept on accumulati­ng points on offer to remain in contention to become the champion. After neck to neck for the first 100 points, Saurabh conveyed the message to Surya that billiards is not about potting the balls but to make delicate cannons and precise in-off’s. Constructi­ng short but decisive breaks of 20 - 23 points mainly through beautiful in-off’s Saurabh raced past Surya to come out a deserving winner to lift the billiards trophy.
