The Galgotias University School of Media and Communication Studies (SMCS), for instance focuses on creating a body of industry-ready professchool sionals with a sound understanding of communication, culture and society. The School offers wholesome undergraduate, post-graduate and PhD courses in the fields of Journalism and Mass Communication – with every course carefully structured to help students keep pace with the growing technological needs of society.
SMCS’s teaching and research spans across a wide range of communication subjects, from popular culture to political communication and journalism studies to digital media. The curriculum at the provides opportunities for students to develop a strong theoretical understanding of the communication field as well as a comprehensive knowledge-base in the tools and techniques of mass communication with the aim of enhancing their potential to be creative and innovative. Courses are therefore innovatively designed with a combination of theory and skillbased learning such as print, radio and television journalism, advertising, public relations, new media, entertainment, documentary film making, scripting, digital storytelling, corporate communications, digital and social media marketing. Certain core courses related to history, culture and society are especially incorporated into the curriculum so as to enrich the knowledge base of students.
Adequate media industry exposure is ensured through projects, field visits, seminars, workshops and special lectures. And students frequently participate in television and radio programmes and film festivals. Internship opportunities are planned as part of the curriculum in order to help students acquire practical learning skills. From time to time top academicians, film makers, journalists and advertising professionals visit the university to share their knowledge and experiences.

Md. Faizal, for instance recently worked as Assistant Director in ‘In the Shadows,’ a psychological drama film starring Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey.
And two other SMCS students recently got the opportunity to work on an International Film Project called Zia, produced by Milkyway Entertainment.
