LUCKNOW : Two suspects were arrested nine months after a woman’s mysterious death as the viscera report and police investigation revealed she was poisoned by the duo who did not wish to repay the money they had borrowed from her, police said.

The 42-year-old woman Kamrunisha alias Ruksana was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her house in the crowded Saadatganj locality on November 7, 2017.

Police arrested two suspects Nilofer alias Neelo, who ran a beauty parlour, and her relative Saifu alias Saif, resident of the same locality. Their alleged accomplice Danish has not been traced.

Inspector, Saadatganj police station, Neeraj Ojha said, “The post-mortem examination had failed to pinpoint the reason for Ruksana’s mysterious death. The detailed examination of viscera preserved by police team helped in exposing the killers’ conspiracy.

The viscera examination revealed that the victim was poisoned.” He said the police received the viscera report only a week ago.

He said the viscera included some parts of the internal organs, specifically those in the chest (heart or lungs) or abdomen (liver, pancreas or intestines).

He said interrogation of the two suspects revealed that they murdered the victim by giving her kebab paratha laced with poison.

“The two suspects murdered the woman as they did not want to pay back the money they had borrowed from her,” he said.

The inspector said Ruksana had no kids and she stayed alone in Luckow as her husband Munna was employed in Saudi Arabia.

He said Nilofer and Saifu were aware that Munna regularly used to send a big amount of money to his wife from abroad. Nilofer and Saifu befriended Ruksana who began to trust them and lent several lakh rupees in the past 2-3 years but the two suspects never returned the amount, he added.

Ojha said the two suspects hatched the murder conspiracy when Ruksana asked them to repay the money.

“Ruksana was a little ill on the night of November 6, 2017. The two accused offered to bring some food from outside and served her food laced with poisons. Danish helped the duo. The trio had food with Ruksana and kept waiting at her house until she succumbed after eating the food. They sneaked out of her house after laying her body on the bed,” he said.

He said the statement of Ruksana’s neighbours and call details of the suspects confirmed their presence at Ruksana’s house the night when she was poisoned.

The woman’s sister Nazmi lodged an FIR in connection with the mysterious death of Ruksana but the police had no evidence against the suspect in the case until the viscera report ascertained presence of poison in the body.

The postmortem examination had failed to pinpoint the reason for Ruksana’s mysterious death. The detailed examination of viscera preserved by police team helped in exposing the killers’ conspiracy. The viscera examination revealed that the victim was poisoned NEERAJ OJHA ,
