Two juvenile home inmates traced

ALLAHABAD: Two of the seven inmates, who escaped from the government-run juvenile home in Khuldabad here early on Thursday, have been recovered, police said.

While one of them aged around 16 was caught in Rambagh area late on Thursday, the other 17 year old was apprehende­d from Jethwara area of Pratapgarh district on Friday, inspector, Khuldabad, Roshanlal said.

The 16-year-old is a native of Allahabad while the other one hails from Pratapgarh district. “The duo was arrested for theft and was lodged at Juvenile home opposite Khuldabad police station. Efforts are on to trace the other boys,” he added.

The escape of the inmates was captured in the CCTV installed at the juvenile home.

Taking cognizance of the security lapse, district magistrate Suhas LY suspended all seven officials who were on duty at the time of the incident.

The suspended officials include two police constables, two home guards, a caretaker and two class 4 employees.

The incident was captured on the CCTV camera of the juvenile home. An FIR has been lodged at Khuldabad police station while hunt is on for the absconding inmates. Assistant superinten­dent of the juvenile home Shri Prakash Singh said, “In the early hours of Thursday, seven inmates escaped from the juvenile home by bending the iron grill of a window. All of them were brought here from the neighbouri­ng districts of Fatehpur, Pratapgarh and other parts of Allahabad.”
