LMRC MD for solar lighting of Metro station concourses
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has decided to use solar energy for lighting up the concourse of all its stations.
Such a plan is already being implemented at the Hussainganj metro station, where 18 solar lights are illuminating the concourse.
LMRC managing director Kumar Keshav said, “I have asked our engineers to use solar lights where ever possible, as it saves a lot of energy. The civil construction work for the entrance and exit gates here (Hussainganj) is also complete. The work of tiling the concourse and the platform is also almost complete. Besides, work for other facilities such as the public toilet and the machine room is also over.”
On Saturday, Keshav reviewed the ongoing metro construction from Hazaratganj station to Hussainganj metro station -- both underground.
At the Hazratganj metro station, the LMRC MD reviewed the work of the entrance-exit gates, stairs and escalators, which are being constructed to reflect the heritage of Lucknow.
He also inspected the property development area at the concourse level, where the finishing work is being speedily wrapped up.
Keshav said he was laying special stress on ensuring facilities for the differently-abled people.
“Officials have been directed to develop all the stations keeping in view the movement of the specially-abled citizens. I will think LMRC as successful only if special people are able to use the metro freely, without any hindrance.”
He said LMRC had already completed 90% of the civil work, and “only 30% of the electrical work was pending”.
The work at the Bapu Bhavan metro station is also in its final stages. While the platform has been tiled, the tiling of the concourse is about to be completed. Staircases, escalators, customer care counters and public toilets have been constructed.
