More rains across UP in coming days: MeT dept

LUCKNOW: The Met office has warned of more rains across UP, including Lucknow, in the next three days. The forecast for the state is rain/thunder showers very likely at a few places over eastern UP and at many places over the western part of the state.

According to IMD’s forecast, both eastern and western parts of UP will receive fairly widespread (51-75% possibilit­y of rain) showers on Monday and widespread (75-100%) rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The forecast for Lucknow and adjoining areas is partly cloudy sky with rain/thunder showers in some areas.

The maximum and minimum temperatur­es would be around 35 and 27 degrees Celsius respective­ly.

On Sunday, maximum temperatur­e in Lucknow was recorded at 35.3 degrees (two notches above normal) and the minimum was 28.3 degrees (three degrees above normal).

Bahraich recorded the maximum rainfall – 39.6 mm, followed by Allahabad 37.9 mm, Varanasi 20.4, Agra 16.3 and Aligarh 6.8 mm during the last 24 hours.

Chitrakoot district administra­tion, in a message, said following intense rain on Saturday night there was sudden increase in the water levels at Ramghat, situated on Mandakini river.

“The water level touched the ghat walkway in the morning. We have alerted shop owners at Ramghat. The level has now receded,” an official said.

“We’re keeping a watch on the water level in view of rains in Madhya Pradesh,” said the official.
