Workshop on cultural heritage of Oudh
LUCKNOW : La Martiniere College Lucknow organised a workshop on various aspects of the cultural heritage of Oudh on Saturday.
Eminent historian Roshan Taqui spoke on ‘Lost monumental glory of Lucknow’ and Ravi Bhatt delivered a lecture on ‘The dynasty of the Fish and Crown’. Mohammad Haider, a lawyer and heritage activist, spoke on the English influence and legacy to Avadh while also sensitizing the participants towards the conservation of monumental heritage.
Mohammad Haider, while addressing on the need of conservation of heritage raised concern over the poor ranking of Lucknow in the ease of living report where the city stood quite below. too late. The event was attended by the students of La Martiniere College, doctors, lawyers, engineers and bureaucrats, who appreciated the efforts of the college in addressing an issue which impacts each one of us.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by principal Carlyle McFarland who stressed on developing a passion for heritage monuments and culture so that they could be saved for the coming generations.
Those attending the workshop were awestruck by the beautiful and imposing conservation works in the majestic Constantia and the La Martiniere.
