Bakrid today: Tight security in place at prominent mosques
LUCKNOW/AGRA:In view of Bakrid celebrations, tight security arrangements have been made at prominent mosques in the state capital, including the Asafi Masjid, the Tile Wali Masjid and the Eidgah, where thousands of Namazis will offer prayers on Wednesday morning to mark the occasion.
The district administration called a meeting of different departments, directing officials to ensure proper cleanliness in all places, especially in the Old City area. District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma also asked officers to make arrangements to effectively manage the gatherings and facilitate namazis.
“Security arrangements are in place in all places that are expected to witness massive gatherings on Wednesday. Besides, departments have been asked to take measures to facilitate everyone celebrating the festival,” he said.
BAKRID NAMAZ AT TAJ MAHAL
There will be no entry fee at Taj Mahal for three hours -- from 7 am to 10 am -- on Wednesday. This exemption has been made so that Muslims can offer namaz at the monument on the occasion of Bakrid. Booking offices at the gates of Taj and Shilpgram will be closed during this period.
“Namaz at Taj Mahal will take place at 8.30am, after prayers have been offered at the Eidgah at 7 am and the Shahi Jama Masjid at 7.30am. People coming for namaz will also distribute ‘kahirat’ (alms) to the needy,” said Munawwar Ali, convener, Uttar Pradesh Aman Committee.
