Those who failed in UG exams can continue as regular students

-

LUCKNOW: All Lucknow University students who failed in the undergraduate (B.Sc, B.Com and B.A) first year exams this year, will be given an opportunity to take admission as regular candidates so that they could adapt to the newly introduced semester system, an official said.

These students will not be charged the enrolment fee. However, there will be no option of changing the subjects. Colleges are advised to complete the admission of these candidates in the next 15 days. “These students will not be admitted on the seats allocated to the colleges,” said LU spokesperson NK Pandey.

These decisions were taken at a meeting of the vice-chancellor with the principals and managers of the affiliated colleges. The meeting was called to discuss the recent changes made to the examination system of the undergraduate courses. In the meeting, it was mentioned that the LU is the first state university to run all the courses in UG and PG on semester system. Besides, an online portal has been created for the colleges wherein they can log in and feed data about their colleges and students. The portal was formally inaugurated by the vice-chancellor on Tuesday.

“Out of 170 affiliated colleges, 146 colleges have already uploaded their data on the portal. A workshop will be conducted on August 25 or 27 for colleges to train them on data feeding on the portal,” Pandey said.

The odd semester (1, 3, 5) examinations will be conducted on subjective question basis while the even semester (2, 4, 6) examinations will be conducted on objective multiple choice question basis. The university will prepare question banks for the objective type exams.

In addition, attendance may be adjusted if students participate in extracurricular activities. In order to switch to the online mode for the continuous assessment tests from the next academic session, colleges were advised to start computer labs within one year. A training program for uploading continuous assessment marks and practical marks will be conducted by the controller of the examination.
