:LUCKNOW: Security of chief minister’s official residence at 5 Kali Das Marg is likely to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The central force has sought details about the CM’s residence from the state government.

Additional director general of police (security), Vijay Kumar, has written a letter to vice chairman, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), PN Singh, seeking complete details of the CM’s residence.

According to LDA sources, chief engineer, LDA, Indu Shekhar Singh, has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing all details related with the CM’s residence to executive engineer PC Pandey.

Also, the development authority has decided to keep a hawk eye on all construction activities in the high security VIP zone, comprising 5 Kali Das Marg and its adjoining areas, including Vikramaditya Marg.

Vice chairman of the LDA has sought complete details of all construction work going on in this VIP zone. According to LDA officials, land use of some projects has been changed in this area from residential to commercial. The height of some buildings in this zone has also been increased

from permissible limit.

It may be pointed out that the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has also taken serious note of ongoing constructions activities in this VIP zone.

Hearing a PIL on August 18 related with construction of a hotel at Vikramaditya Marg, the high court stayed the construction work. The court also directed the estate officer, vice chairman, LDA, and municipal commissioner, Lucknow Municipal Corporation to produce photographs of the alleged ongoing construction work on Vikramaditya Marg.

“This VIP zone caters to the residences of chief minister, the chief secretary, the chairman, board of revenue, judges of the high court, cabinet ministers, ministers and very senior IAS officers. If such activities are permitted in this VIP zone apparently it cannot be said that it would be safe and secure, nor would the life of the residents of the area be peaceful,” observed the court.
