Govt open to discussing all key issues, says Yogi at allparty meeting
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said his government was ready to discuss all important issues in a constructive manner and expected the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature to run in a peaceful manner.
Adityanath was speaking at an all-party meeting held at Vidhan Bhawan here ahead of the monsoon session, which begins on August 23.
He emphasised that the government was committed to maximum discussion and a long session.
“We are also committed to sorting out public issues. UP Vidhan Sabha is the biggest in the country and we want a decent interaction there. We are committed to the welfare of the people and strengthening democracy,” he said.
The chief minister also sought the cooperation of the leaders of all parties in running the house smoothly.
Vidhan Sabha speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit appealed to the legislators and the parties to present their point of view with dignity and ensure highquality debate.
“In democracies, there is a government and the opposition; there is consensus, there are disagreements, arguments and counter-arguments. The point where agreements and disagreements meet is called dialogue,” said the Vidhan Sabha speaker.
He cautioned legislators against making personal comments in the house.
Leader of opposition Ramgobind Chaudhary (Samajwadi Party) said there was a dearth of discussion.
He said the session should be lengthened to increase the scope of discussion.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Lalji Verma and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ajay Kumar Lallu assured of cooperation in the house.
The monsoon session will go on from August 23 to 31.
