Speed up relief work in flood-hit areas, directs CM
LAKHIMPUR KHERI: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday carried out an aerial survey of floodaffected villages of Lakhimpur Kheri.
The CM distributed relief material among the villagers and also held a review meeting with the officials at ONGC hospital in Sisaiya village.
District magistrate, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shailendra Kumar Singh informed Yogi about the progress of flood relief work.
Bala Prasad Awasthi and Romi Sahni, legislators from Dhaurahra and Pallia, highlighted the flood and erosion in Shahabuddinpurwa, Sarainya Kalan and Chhanga Tanda villages.
The CM expressed satisfaction over the Kheri administration’s preparedness but instructed them to carry out relief works on a war footing.
Briefing media persons, Yogi said preparedness and the ongoing work by the administration had prevented loss of lives and property. “The officials have been instructed to speed up ongoing works and there is no shortage of funds and material,” he added.
“Those who have lost their houses in floods or erosion will be provided houses either under the PM Awas Yojana or CM Awas Scheme. People whose houses have been damaged will be provided help under disaster relief programme,” he added.
He said 7-8 spots in Kheri had been identified as highly sensitive to flood/erosion threat from Sharda and Ghaghara rivers.
‘YOGI SHOULD HAVE MET FLOOD-AFFECTED PEOPLE’
Former union minister and Congress leader Jitin Prasada on Friday said besides doing an aerial survey chief minister Yogi Adityanath should have met flood-affected people to understand their problems. Prasada and other Congress leaders visited floodhit villages and talked to people. He said the BJP government had failed to provide relief to people.
