UPPSC: Now screening test marks to count in merit list

ALLAHABAD : In a step aimed at doing away with existing alleged loopholes in selection process, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has decided to henceforth prepare merit list of direct recruitmen­ts held by it by giving 50 per cent weightage to marks scored by candidates in screening test and the other 50 per cent in interview. Till now, candidates were selected on the basis of marks scored in personalit­y tests and no weightage was awarded to score in screening tests held to filter less deserving candidates.

Till now, candidates were selected on the basis of marks scored in personalit­y tests and no weightage was awarded to score in screening tests held to filter less deserving candidates.

UPPSC conducts direct recruitmen­t to select AYUSH doctors/lecturers in state medical colleges, engineers, directors and assistant directors among others for state government department­s.

As per the norms, screening is conducted only if posts are equal or more than 50 and/or there are more than 1000 applicants.

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission secretary Jagdish confirmed the move.
